He fixes her marriage only to curry favour with his Master; always god to keep the boss happy. Later when he gets a chance, he rapes her, even thoough it is only her dead body (he could not have done that if she were alive). But is he devoted to the Haji? Nothing seems to suggest that- just a case of a man fearing Haji and supporting him only out of a necessity.E Pradeephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00416470793598316855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30383704.post-13890699784915108942010-03-01T22:35:43.891+05:302010-03-01T22:35:43.891+05:30I am fascinated with Velayudhan. Can't blame him much because Cheeru is a perfect match for Haji's lust. But what surprises me most is Velayudhan's willingness to let the Haji prey upon Manickyam who is his master's daughter. Yet he fixes her marriage and brings her to Paleri to satisfy his boss. Later he strangles her at the behest of his master and then rapes her almost lifeless body before she is hung to death. Why is this man so devoted to the Haji? It may have been much more than fear or favour.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07008397857576017543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30383704.post-90946903984085708172010-02-16T11:39:34.521+05:302010-02-16T11:39:34.521+05:30Thanks! The movie was quite a straight forward except for the abstract climax for which different people have interepreted differently. But you do know that Konkana's world is not true when compared to the rest (unlike the Rashomon effect where the truth is not known) though there are moments when the director makes you wonder why some delusions are normal and others are not?

15 Park Avenue clearly does not exist but is a place which exists in Konkana's mind and is her world which she experiences and is in search of. She lives in a different reality and the movie tries to look at how the reality of each character is distorted, through her eyes. The ending is not definitive but just mirrors her percepions..If all this makes any sense ofcourse!!!!E Pradeephttp://epradeep98.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30383704.post-18569770384044513862010-01-27T16:34:19.047+05:302010-01-27T16:34:19.047+05:30-There is an almost Rashomon like effect we witnes...-There is an almost Rashomon like effect we witness as each character presents his own version of the story and we are left wondering where the truth lies. -

This reminded me of the movie '15 Park Avenue'. Quite possible but is there a reason why it is important in the context of the plot or maybe it was a directorial hint to suggest the possible parentage of Haridas?

Did not know that Shankar Ramakrishnan was the Asisstant Direcor here. Let's wait for an independent movie from his side now; thought that Island Express had a rather convoluted and disjointed approach..E Pradeephttp://epradeep98.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30383704.post-24147231022907124012009-12-17T15:37:38.597+05:302009-12-17T15:37:38.597+05:30I think there is subtle hint on why Haridasan goes...I think there is subtle hint on why Haridasan goes out with Sarayu. Somewhere in the movie he says - "Anyante Bhaarya aagrahikunnathu thettaanu", so it can be that his father's traits are also passed onto him, probably in a lesser violent way.

It was good to see that the person who assisted Ranjith in this movie is Shankar Ramakrishnan, who made Island Express in Kerala Cafe. So that's another director on whom we can pin our hopes on.Dhanush | ധനുഷ്https://www.blogger.com/profile/09661290502605302766noreply@blogger.com
